Career Exploration Activities

Helping students learn about and aspire to careers in tomorrow’s prominent fields is an integral and important aspect of nurturing and maintaining a talented and viable labor force.

Check out the unique and fun activities that we offer:

Techies Day – Held several times throughout the year, participants visit technology companies or companies run by technology that allow them to use problem solving skills and learn how to conquer the world through technology.

What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? – Designed to dispel the outdated image of manufacturing as boring, dirty and dangerous, middle school students explore “cool” manufacturing careers by crafting videos that feature are companies.  Each team’s finished product focuses on the lean and clean work environments consistent in the high-tech field of today’s manufacturing and then are submitted for regional and statewide judging .

Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology GETT – At this day-long event, girls in grades 5-10 learn about career opportunities in STEM related industries.  A trade show-style expo features more than 100 hand-on STEM activities.  Parents and educators as also welcome to attend this day full of exciting, enlightening, and experiential activities led by successful women in STEM fields.

Healthcare Career Showcases – Held several times throughout the year, students visit multiple departments in a variety of health care organizations to learn about the STEM skills needed on a daily basis for careers in health care.  By connecting in and out-of-school learning, participants explore various careers and discover the different levels of education required.

Manufacturing Circuit Day – Area manufactures conducts tours of their modern facilities for students on Manufacturing Day.  Participants are exposed to a number of careers at each site and are tasked with solving typical manufacturing problems in teams.

Energy Career Showcases – Held throughout the year, students visit energy companies and or businesses that utilize various types of renewal energy.  Participants are exposed to a number of careers at each site and discover the different levels of education required.

Career Fairs & Community Events – CCEDC participates in career fairs and community events to help students gain hands-on knowledge of careers in agriculture, energy, health care, manufacturing, and technology.  Our STEM Innovation team can share information such topics as educational requirements, career path option, potential salaries and other statistics to students, parents, and educators.

Explorer Day – CCEDC is partnering with the Chester County Technical High School and the Boy Scouts of America to offer this great In-Service Day event! Any student who is in grades 6th through 10th and has an In-Service Day is welcome!
